Complex queries

This type of search allows you to focus on a limited number of relevant results by adding new search criteria on one or many specific attributes. The main attributes found in the information sources have been grouped into three Searchable Attributes, being the Last Name, the First Name and Location. In addition, the attribute Full Text allows you to search in all the searchable fields of a database; it is the default attribute for the simple search.

To initiate a complex query, you must click on the Advanced Search tab and then enter each of the search terms while selecting the relevant attribute. It is important to click on the Add button after entering each attribute in order to perform the search.

Since some databases do not contain fields for First Name or Location, the advanced search for a first name or location will be ignored in these databases. Therefore, if you are searching Albert Greenberg using advanced search, you will obtain from these databases only results with the last name Greenberg.

Finally, it is essential to choose the sources before selecting the advanced search mode or inscribing the searchable attributes; otherwise, the selected or entered items will be erased.

Filtering

In order not to wrongfully reduce the number of results, we suggest that you do not use the filtering options due to the structure and the layout of the information in each database.
